Commission Guidelines
Please read these guidelines in full before submitting a commission inquiry
General
-
The contract will be agreed upon and signed by both parties before beginning the commission
-
Commissions are on a first-come, first-served basis, and open slots subject to change
-
Commissioners will receive 2-4 preliminary thumbnail sketches of the artwork (see revisions and drafts for more detail)
-
The time it takes to finish your commission varies from 4 weeks to 2 months depending on factors such as the complexity of the commissioned piece, graduate school classes, other personal responsibilities, and your position in the commission list
-
You can track your commission status and position in the commission list, which will be updated as images are finished
-
Limited slots are open at a given time. After ordering you are added to the commission list according to your ordering time, not according to any inquiries or conversations beforehand. Commissions are only accepted via the submission form, not by email or social media. You may inquire via either, but please only formally request commissions via the link.
-
If all or desired commission slots are sold out you can subscribe to the newsletter and get notified as soon as the commission slots are open again
-
Commissions will be drawn in my art style, not realism or any other artist’s style. Styles such as anime may be permitted upon conversation with the artist
-
One request form per commission.
-
Fanart is permitted as long as it is not distributed.
Subjects I will not draw: hateful or offensive art, caricatures of popular or political figures, and fetishes. Communicate with me about any other sensitive or possibly controversial subjects.
IN THE CASE OF NUDITY/GORE: Commissions featuring nudity/extreme gore MUST include a trigger warning, NSFW warning, or other view discretion-advised warning attributed to any public social media posts.
For example, a buyer may post about their commission even if it features explicit nudity or gore, but the Instagram post must come with a blank cover image AND caption with the NSFW warning and specific subject
(ex. Trigger warning, nudity, body gore)
All delivered artworks are for private use only (If you are looking for freelance work, contact me at jamilajart.com)
I am a traditional artist and primarily deal in traditional processes, especially pen and ink, pencil, watercolor and colored pencil, collage, and textile work. Digital work is available upon request and digital illustration aspects may be included within the final artwork. Please communicate directly with any requests for digital artwork.

Revisions and Drafts
Commissions come with 2 revision stages for no additional charge:
-
Minor revisions after seeing the preliminary thumbnail sketches, i.e. adjustments to the figures, changes in landscape or background, etc.
-
Final draft of the artwork with at least 2 color or color scheme options, 1-2 drawing revisions allowed for the final drawing sketch, 1-2 color revisions
Commissioners are able to be in contact with the artist for the duration of the process
Payment
-
A deposit of 50% is due upon signing (following a meeting between the artist and commissioner)
-
50% of payment is due upon completion of the project
-
50% deposit is non-refundable after completing the 1st meeting
-
Cost of commissions is dependent upon the complexity of the commission, requests for a finish date (i.e. requesting for the commissioned piece to be finished within 4 weeks), and cost of materials
-
Commissions prices are determined by the number of hours worked on the piece x hourly rate + cost of materials, or by a flat rate agreed upon between the buyer and artist
-
Commission sales are not subject to these conditions. Please refer to the commission sale guidelines for those orders.

Process and Delivery
-
Delivery method and associated costs will be agreed upon by the artist and commissioner during the first meeting
-
Once the piece is finished, the original image will be sent to you by post and you receive a tracking code
-
A commission typically takes up to 5 weeks to fulfill after the sketch is approved and the payment is made but may take longer depending upon extenuating circumstances or intricate requests
